Liquid Landscape advances a meditation on the conditions of flux, transition, and becoming. In this series, Faico employs fabricated aluminum alloy and polymer crystal resin to render a world where forms oscillate between solidity and dissolution. By staging encounters between organic motifs and crystalline environments, the artist reflects on the porous thresholds between permanence and impermanence, visibility and concealment, stillness and motion.
Formally, the sculptures are marked by their chromatic iridescence and their interplay of reflective surfaces with translucent orbs. Metallic figures—dolphins, koi, seahorses, jellyfish—emerge in dynamic relation to coral-like architectures that shimmer in shifting gradients. The resin spheres serve as crystallized nodes of energy, at once fragile and enduring, suggesting embryonic worlds suspended in a state of potentiality. This deliberate tension between reflective alloy and glass-like resin destabilizes fixed perception, foregrounding a visual field that is at once material and ephemeral.
In reframing landscape as process rather than territory, Faico dislodges the notion of environment as static backdrop. Instead, these works propose an understanding of the world as a continuum—dynamic, relational, and perpetually in the act of becoming. The viewer is invited into a slower encounter, one that privileges attentiveness and reflection over immediate recognition. In this mode, Liquid Landscape unfolds less as a collection of discrete objects than as a constellation of thresholds: portals into a realm where matter and meaning converge in perpetual transformation.
Faico an award-winning jewelry designer and founder of Hoseki Jewelry Art, is a multi-talented artist from the Philippines. As the son of a local pearl farm pioneer, the jewelry business was not unfamiliar to him. Despite initially pursuing a degree in architecture, Faico found himself following in his father’s footsteps as he discovered his true passion for designing jewelry.
Faico has earned significant acclaim in the business of jewelry, being the sole Filipino featured in the prestigious 17 Best Designers in the World by the Paspaley Group and winning the International South Sea Pearl Design Competition three times consecutively. He was also a finalist in the 2024 GSIS National Art Competition for sculpture.
The jewelry designer has always had a deep-seated love for drawing and painting. As a hands-on person, Faico started to delve into sculpture and quickly discovered that this three-dimensional form was the perfect marriage between jewelry and art. His sculptural works are mainly inspired by natural subjects such as island rock formations, coral reefs, and the sea.
